On October 1, 2014 in Concord, the NH Department of Education and the Parent Information Center (PIC) co-sponsored the sixth annual Parent Involvement in Education Recognition Ceremony. This event celebrated the efforts of educators, parents, and family-school partnership teams from around the state that displayed creativity, innovation, and/or commitment at the community, school, district, or state level in one or more of the NH Family-School-Community Partnership Standards.
NH Family Voices nominated Misty Martinez-Bohannon for a Parent Involvement in Education Recognition for a number of reasons. Misty’s nomination read: Our relationship with Misty Martinez-Bohannon began years ago as a parent partner working with her daughter’s pediatric practice. Misty was eager, and comfortable in speaking in our small team meetings, but hesitant to speak up publicly. How times have changed! Misty has risen to be a shining parent leader, taking active roles on committees within the Keene School District. She worked alongside staff and administration on the district’s strategic plan. She attends all school board meetings, and shares information with the community. She continues to serve on the Family Advisory Council at Dartmouth Hitchcock Keene. Her friends at NH Family Voices are proud to nominate her for all of her efforts, to make the Keene School District a better place, for all students, families, and the staff who support them. Misty was profiled by the Sentinel earlier this year as a “Rock Star” parent, committed to Keene students. Click here to read the inspiring Keene Sentinel article.
